notes

for this opossum you will start by making two matching circles.

then you will make the appendages.

next is sewing the pieces together and to the clasp.

I added a fabric lining to mine, but you could easily remove it from the process.

first the white halves are each sewn to the clasp, then the fabric on the inside.

then you will sew the bottom grey halves together and add the appendages.

assembly

first make your opossom's face.

insert the eyes centered on the white half, between R3-4, about 7sts apart

embroider the nose with pink, over 2sts between R4-5

cut all of the tails on the main pieces shorter

I recommend melting the backs of the eyes, so they don't poke the fabric.

start with the fabric lining

place the circles on your fabric as shown.
trace around them, then cut the shape out.
next fold it in half, with the nicer looking sides together
place the clasp on top and mark where the clasps end
follow the arrows to sew the inner pouch. I used white embroidery floss,
blending it in with my opossum and fabric.
I used overstitch, but a different stitch would work . if you are unfamiliar with this stitch,
there is no need for it to look perfect, or turn it inside out,
this will be attached to the coin purse as it is.

now sew the clasp to the white halves of the head/body piece
no need to sew them together first, we'll do that after the lining.
next sew the lining in, using the holes on the clasp, and the head/body pieces.
your front end will look like the finished purse, and your back end should still be open.
next we will close the back end. attach your grey yarn at one of the ends of the clasp.
sew the sides together.

here is what your pouch should look like.

the final step is to attach the limbs.

sew the ears on the grey/white stripe with several stitches between them.
sew the tail on the back where the head/body pieces meet.
sew the legs around the edge of the body, as according to the picture.

Thanks for making!
